Electric power is simply the rate at which electrical energy is used or delivered in a circuit. Think of it like how fast a generator consumes fuel – the faster it works, the more power it uses. Power depends on both voltage and current flowing through a device.
Ohm's law states that current equals voltage divided by resistance, written as I = V/R. A practical Nigerian example is your home generator: when you connect high-power appliances like air conditioners and refrigerators together, the current drawn increases, causing the voltage to drop if the generator is weak.
Power can be calculated using P = VI (voltage times current) or P = I²R (current squared times resistance). Understanding these relationships helps you solve circuit problems accurately and predict how devices behave under different electrical conditions.
