PRODUCTION

Production simply means using resources to create goods and services that people want to buy. Think of it as transforming raw materials into finished products through work and planning.

Every production activity needs four things working together: land (the natural resources), labour (people doing the work), capital (machines and money), and entrepreneurship (the person with the business idea taking risks). For example, a tomato farmer in Kano needs fertile land, workers to plant and harvest, equipment like tractors, and the farmer's own business sense to make profit.

Production has three main types. Primary production extracts raw materials from nature like farming and mining. Secondary production transforms these raw materials into finished goods like turning cocoa beans into chocolate. Tertiary production provides services like teaching, banking, and transportation.

When workers specialize in doing one specific job repeatedly, they become very skilled and fast. This division of labour makes businesses more efficient and productive overall.
