Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, and any one of Physics, Clothing/Textiles, Food and Nutrition, Home Management, Catering Craft Practice, Cosmetology, Fine Arts and Economics.
Home Economics and Education is an interdisciplinary programme that equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in food and nutrition, clothing and textiles, family resource management, and child development, all integrated with core educational methodologies for effective classroom instruction. Students are trained to become competent professionals who can translate domestic science into meaningful learning experiences. Graduates of this programme pursue rewarding careers as secondary school Home Economics teachers, nutritionists, consumer educators, and family life counsellors across public and private institutions. Those in teaching practice are expected to register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), which regulates professional teaching standards nationwide. The programme remains highly relevant given Nigeria's growing emphasis on health, family welfare, and vocational education at all levels.
