You must have credit passes in five O'level subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology are compulsory. For your fifth credit pass, you can choose any other Science subject like Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science, or similar Science-based subjects.

Those entering the teaching profession may register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), while industrial chemists can affiliate with the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) or the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON) for professional recognition and advancement.
