You must get credit passes in five subjects: Mathematics, English Language, and Biology or Health Science are compulsory. For the remaining two credit passes, you can choose any two subjects from Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Economics, Religious Knowledge, or Nigerian Language.
Health Information Management is a four-year undergraduate programme that trains students in the systematic collection, organisation, analysis, and preservation of patient health records and clinical data. Students study medical terminology, health statistics, disease classification systems, hospital administration, epidemiology, and information technology as applied to healthcare settings. The curriculum bridges medicine and data management, equipping graduates to maintain accurate health records that support quality patient care and policy decisions. Career opportunities include working as health records officers in public and private hospitals, health data analysts, medical coding specialists, and health informatics consultants. Graduates are eligible for registration with the Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria, the statutory body that regulates professional practice nationwide and ensures ethical standards are upheld.
