WAEC SSCE Marketing
Study notes for ICT in Marketing — part of the WAEC SSCE Marketing syllabus. 1 learning objectives with explanations and exam tips.
E-Marketing simply means buying and selling goods and services using the internet and digital platforms. Instead of visiting physical shops, customers browse online stores, make purchases through their phones or computers, and products get delivered to their homes. This includes social media selling, email marketing, and online advertising.
E-Marketing is important because it reaches millions of people instantly, costs less than traditional marketing, and allows businesses to operate 24/7. Nigerian companies like Jumia have successfully used e-marketing to grow their businesses across West Africa.
However, e-marketing has ethical issues. Businesses must not deceive customers with fake product images, collect personal data without permission, or send unwanted spam messages. Abuses include cybercrime, selling counterfeit goods online, and invading customer privacy. Understanding these boundaries helps businesses build trust with customers.
