WAEC SSCE Marketing
Study notes for Consumer and Organizational — part of the WAEC SSCE Marketing syllabus. 1 learning objectives with explanations and exam tips.
When we talk about consumer markets, we're simply referring to individuals and households who buy goods and services for personal use. Think of you buying a bottle of Fanta at a shop or your mum purchasing groceries at Shoprite—that's the consumer market in action. On the other hand, organizational markets involve businesses buying from other businesses. For instance, when Dangote Sugar buys machinery from an industrial supplier or when a school purchases desks from a furniture company, that's organizational marketing happening.
The key difference is that consumer buyers purchase for themselves, while organizational buyers purchase to use in their business operations or to resell. Understanding this distinction helps marketers develop appropriate strategies for reaching each group effectively. Consumers are influenced by emotions and personal needs, while organizational buyers focus on quality, cost, and business value.
