Taxation as a university programme equips students with a thorough understanding of Nigeria's tax laws, fiscal policies, and revenue administration systems. Students explore areas such as corporate taxation, personal income tax, value-added tax, international taxation, and tax planning strategies, all within the framework of Nigerian and global regulatory environments. The programme blends legal principles with financial and accounting concepts, preparing graduates to interpret, apply, and advise on tax matters effectively. Upon graduation, students can pursue careers as tax consultants, revenue officers with the Federal Inland Revenue Service, tax auditors in public practice, or financial analysts in corporate organisations. Professional certifications from the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria significantly enhance career prospects and professional credibility.
