Social Work is a four-year undergraduate programme that equips students with the knowledge and skills to support vulnerable individuals, families, and communities across Nigeria. Students study foundational courses in sociology, psychology, human behaviour, community development, social policy, and welfare administration. Practical fieldwork placements form a critical component of the training, exposing students to real-world challenges in child protection, poverty alleviation, and mental health support. Graduates can pursue rewarding careers as welfare officers, community development officers, rehabilitation counsellors, and NGO programme managers within government ministries, hospitals, correctional facilities, and civil society organisations. The Nigerian Association of Social Workers (NASOW) serves as the relevant professional body, providing regulatory oversight and ethical standards that guide professional practice nationwide.
