Social Studies/Hausa is an interdisciplinary programme that equips students with a deep understanding of social sciences alongside proficiency in the Hausa language, one of Nigeria's most widely spoken languages. Students explore topics spanning history, geography, civics, economics, and cultural studies, while developing strong competencies in Hausa linguistics, literature, and communication. The programme prepares graduates to navigate Nigeria's complex multicultural landscape with both academic rigour and cultural sensitivity. Career opportunities are broad and rewarding, with graduates finding meaningful roles as educators in secondary and tertiary institutions, broadcast journalists and media professionals serving northern Nigerian audiences, translators and interpreters for government agencies, and policy researchers working with cultural or development organisations. The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) remains the primary professional body for graduates pursuing careers in education.
