Admission requirements for Science Laboratory Technology at Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State, Ogun State.
You must have O'Level credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. You need five SSC credit passes total: Mathematics is compulsory, plus you must choose two subjects from Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science, or Health Science and Chemistry (whichever you didn't already have), and then pick two more subjects from Technical Drawing, Metal Work, Wood Work, Basic Electricity, Geography, Further Mathematics, or Fine Arts.
Science Laboratory Technology is a dynamic undergraduate programme that equips students with practical and theoretical knowledge in the sciences, covering core areas such as microbiology, biochemistry, chemical analysis, physics instrumentation, and research methodology. Students develop strong hands-on competencies in laboratory procedures, quality control, and scientific investigation across biological, chemical, and physical sciences. Graduates are well-positioned to pursue careers as laboratory scientists in hospitals and diagnostic centres, research institutions, food and beverage industries, and environmental monitoring agencies. The programme is professionally regulated by the Institute of Science Laboratory Technology of Nigeria (ISLT), which sets standards for practice and certification. Many graduates also advance into postgraduate studies or transition into related fields such as public health and industrial chemistry.
