Public Health is a multidisciplinary programme that equips students with the knowledge and skills to protect and improve the health of entire populations rather than individual patients. Students study epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, health policy, community nutrition, disease surveillance, and health promotion, gaining both scientific and administrative competencies. The curriculum blends classroom theory with fieldwork, preparing graduates to understand and address Nigeria's unique disease burdens, including malaria, tuberculosis, and maternal mortality. Upon graduation, students can pursue careers as public health officers, epidemiologists, health policy analysts, or environmental health practitioners within government agencies, NGOs, and international health organisations. The Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria (EHORECON) regulates practitioners in relevant specialisations, ensuring professional standards are maintained across the sector.
