Five (5) SSCE Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at not more than two sittings
Plant Science & Biotechnology is a dynamic undergraduate programme that equips students with foundational and applied knowledge in plant biology, genetics, crop improvement, tissue culture, molecular biology, and agricultural biotechnology. Students explore how scientific innovation can address food security challenges, improve crop yields, and develop disease-resistant plant varieties suitable for Nigeria's diverse ecological zones. Laboratory and field-based training prepares graduates for careers as plant biotechnologists, agricultural research scientists, seed technology specialists, and environmental consultants working with government agencies, research institutes, and agribusiness companies. Graduates may also pursue roles in regulatory bodies overseeing biosafety compliance in Nigeria. The National Biotechnology Development Agency provides a relevant professional framework, while membership in the Biotechnology Society of Nigeria enhances career credibility and networking opportunities.
