Physiology is a core biomedical science programme that equips students with deep understanding of how the human body functions at cellular, organ, and systemic levels. Students explore topics such as cardiovascular dynamics, neurophysiology, endocrinology, reproductive biology, and respiratory mechanics, supported by practical laboratory training. Graduates are well-positioned to pursue careers in medical research, academic teaching, pharmaceutical industries, and healthcare consulting. Many proceed to postgraduate studies or professional programmes in medicine, dentistry, and related health sciences. The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria regulates allied health practice, while the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research provides further professional engagement. A strong foundation in physiology also supports careers within Nigeria's rapidly growing biotechnology and clinical diagnostics sectors.
