Admission requirements for Physics at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, Ogun State.
(i) Candidates for admission into the Department must satisfy the University/Faculty requirements, that is, minimum of five Credit passes at ordinary level (O/L) or SSCE or NECO which must include English language, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and any one from the following subjects, (Biology or Agricultural Science, Geography, Technical Drawing, Statistics, Data Processing/Computer studies) at NOT more than two (2) sittings.
Physics is a foundational science programme that equips students with deep knowledge of matter, energy, space, and time. Students explore classical mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, quantum physics, optics, and nuclear physics, alongside practical laboratory training and mathematical methods. The curriculum builds strong analytical and problem-solving skills applicable across multiple industries.
Graduates pursue rewarding careers as geophysicists in Nigeria's oil and gas sector, medical physicists in hospitals and diagnostic centres, research scientists in government agencies, and educators in secondary and tertiary institutions. Those in engineering-related roles may engage with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), while medical physicists work within frameworks governed by relevant health regulatory bodies. The Nigerian Institute of Physics also provides professional membership and development opportunities for graduates.
