Medical Laboratory Technology is a four-year undergraduate programme that trains students in the scientific analysis of human specimens to aid disease diagnosis, monitoring, and prevention. Students gain both theoretical and practical knowledge in areas such as haematology, medical microbiology, chemical pathology, histopathology, and immunology. Graduates are equipped to work as laboratory scientists in government and private hospitals, public health agencies, research institutions, and the pharmaceutical industry. The programme is professionally regulated by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), which oversees licensing and practice standards nationwide. Upon graduation and successful registration with MLSCN, certified professionals can pursue careers in clinical diagnostics, blood banking, epidemiological research, and laboratory management, making them indispensable contributors to Nigeria's healthcare delivery system.
