Admission requirements for Mass Communication at Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Ekiti State.
The Minimum entry requirements into National Diploma (ND) in Mass Communication are Five (5) Credits passes in WASC/ NECO/GCE O’level/SSCE/NABTEB Examination at not more than two (2) sittings. The subjects must include: 1. English; 2. Mathematics; 3. Literature in English; 4. Plus any other two (2) of the following: Government/Civic Education/History, Economics/Commerce, Biology/Agric. Science/Animal Husbandry/Physics /Chemistry, CRS/IRS, Entrepreneurship Education and a Nigerian Language.
Mass Communication equips students with a thorough understanding of media theory, journalism, public relations, advertising, broadcasting, and film production. Students develop practical skills in news writing, media ethics, digital content creation, and strategic communication, preparing them to operate effectively across traditional and emerging media platforms. Graduates pursue rewarding careers as broadcast journalists, public relations consultants, advertising executives, and media producers within Nigeria's growing entertainment and information industry. The programme also opens pathways into corporate communications and political consulting. Relevant professional bodies include the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), which provide professional certification and regulate practice standards across the industry.
