In addition to appropriate UTME score, five Senior Secondary Certificate (SSC) (or its equivalent) credit passes including Islamic Studies and English Language, at not more than two sittings. National Board of Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) Certificate in Five (5) subjects has been approved by the University senate for Admission into Islamic Studies.
Islamic Studies is a discipline that equips students with deep knowledge of Quranic sciences, Hadith, Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh), Islamic history, Arabic language, and the intellectual traditions of Muslim scholarship. Students also explore the intersection of Islamic thought with contemporary social, legal, and ethical issues affecting Muslim communities in Nigeria and beyond. Graduates are well-positioned to pursue careers as Islamic scholars and teachers, Arabic language instructors in secondary schools and tertiary institutions, Sharia court judges or legal advisors within states operating the Sharia legal system, and religious affairs officers in government ministries. Those combining the programme with education qualifications may register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), enhancing their professional standing and employability across northern and southwestern Nigeria.
