Admission requirements for Islamic Studies/History at Federal College Of Education, Kontagora, Niger State, Niger State.
Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, History, Islamic Studies and any Arts subject.
Islamic Studies and History offers students a rich intellectual journey into the foundations of Islamic civilisation, Quranic sciences, Hadith literature, Islamic jurisprudence, and the historical development of Muslim societies across Africa and the wider world. Students also examine pre-colonial, colonial, and post-colonial Nigerian history within broader global contexts, developing strong skills in critical analysis, research, and intercultural understanding.
Graduates are well-positioned to pursue careers as educators, historians, archivists, and policy analysts within government ministries, particularly those handling northern affairs, religious matters, and cultural heritage. Opportunities also exist in journalism, diplomacy, and non-governmental organisations focused on interfaith dialogue. While no single statutory body like ICAN or NBA exclusively governs this field, graduates may register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria to formalise their professional standing in education.
