Admission requirements for Industrial Design at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, Kaduna State.
You must have O'level credits in English Language, Mathematics (at least a pass), and one subject from Fine Art, Technical Drawing, Visual Art, Fashion Design, Interior Decoration, Painting and Decoration, Dying and Bleaching, Woodwork, Metal Work, Printing, or Ceramics. You need three more O'level credits from Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, Government, History, Economics, Commerce, or Civic Education, and all five credits must be obtained within two sittings.
Industrial Design is a creative and technical programme that equips students with the skills to conceptualise, develop, and produce functional products that meet human needs. Students study product design, ergonomics, materials science, manufacturing processes, computer-aided design, and visual communication, blending artistic creativity with engineering principles throughout their training. Graduates are well-positioned to pursue careers as product designers, packaging designers, furniture designers, and design consultants across Nigeria's growing manufacturing and consumer goods sectors. Opportunities also exist within advertising agencies, construction firms, and government agencies focused on industrial development. The Industrial Design Association of Nigeria, IDAN, provides professional networking and development opportunities for practitioners. Registration with relevant bodies enhances graduates' credibility and career advancement prospects within Nigeria's expanding creative economy.
