Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and any three Arts, Science or Social Sciences. Social Studies and Civic Education are also accepted.
Igbo Language and Linguistics offers students a rigorous academic exploration of one of Nigeria's most prominent indigenous languages. Students examine Igbo phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics alongside oral literature, cultural studies, and translation theory. The programme also engages with sociolinguistics, language documentation, and the evolving role of Igbo in contemporary Nigerian society. Graduates are well-positioned to pursue careers as educators at secondary and tertiary levels, professional translators and interpreters, cultural consultants, and broadcast journalists with indigenous language broadcasters such as the NTA or state radio stations. Those pursuing teaching professionally may register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, while those entering journalism can engage with the Nigerian Union of Journalists to advance their professional standing.
