Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Igbo and any two (2) Arts subjects.
Combining the rich linguistic heritage of the Igbo language with the universal language of music, this dual-discipline programme equips students with deep competencies in Igbo linguistics, oral literature, cultural studies, phonology, and indigenous music theory and performance. Students explore traditional Igbo musical instruments, composition, ethnomusicology, and the historical relationship between language and artistic expression in Igbo communities. Graduates are well-positioned to pursue careers as professional musicians, cultural officers, broadcasters, and secondary school teachers of Igbo language and music across Nigeria. Those entering the teaching profession may align with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, while practising musicians can engage with the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, both of which provide professional recognition and networking opportunities within the Nigerian creative sector.
