A. Basic Admission Requirements and Expected Duration of the Programme General Admission requirements into the HDS Department are as follows: 1. Unified tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME): 4 – Year Degree Programme Applicants under this category must obtain a minimum of five credits (including English Language, Mathematics, History or Government and any other Arts subjects) at not more than two sittings in the West African School Certificate (WAEC) /General Certificate of Education Examinations (GCE) of West African Examination Council (WAEC) or National Examination Council (NECO). In addition to this, an acceptable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to be determined by the University and the Department is required. The UTME subjects must include English Language, History OR Government and any other two Arts or Social Science subjects.
History and Diplomatic Studies equips students with a deep understanding of historical events, international relations, foreign policy, and the political forces that have shaped Nigeria and the wider world.
