Guidance and Counselling is a professionally oriented programme that equips students with the theoretical foundations and practical skills needed to support individuals through personal, academic, and career-related challenges. Students study courses in developmental psychology, counselling theories, group dynamics, educational psychology, vocational guidance, and mental health practice. Emphasis is placed on understanding human behaviour across different life stages and applying therapeutic techniques in diverse settings. Graduates are well-positioned to work as school counsellors in primary and secondary institutions, career development officers in corporate organisations, rehabilitation counsellors in healthcare settings, or mental health practitioners in community and clinical environments. The Counselling Association of Nigeria serves as the key professional body regulating practice, while registration with relevant education authorities further strengthens a graduate's professional standing and credibility.
