Food Technology is a dynamic discipline that equips students with the scientific and technical knowledge required to process, preserve, package, and distribute food products safely and efficiently. Students explore core areas such as food chemistry, microbiology, nutrition, quality control, and industrial food processing techniques, blending theoretical foundations with hands-on laboratory and production experience. Graduates are well-positioned to pursue rewarding careers as food scientists, quality assurance managers, production supervisors in manufacturing companies, or entrepreneurs running food processing enterprises. Regulatory roles within agencies like NAFDAC also attract Food Technology graduates significantly. The Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST) serves as the relevant professional body, providing certification, networking opportunities, and industry standards that guide professional practice across Nigeria's growing food and beverage sector.
