Food Science & Technology is a dynamic programme that equips students with scientific and technical knowledge for understanding food composition, preservation, processing, and quality control. Students explore core areas such as food chemistry, microbiology, nutrition, packaging technology, and food safety standards throughout their undergraduate training. The curriculum blends laboratory practice with theoretical knowledge, preparing graduates to meet Nigeria's growing food production and processing demands. Career opportunities abound in food manufacturing companies, regulatory agencies such as NAFDAC and SON, research institutions, and agribusiness enterprises. Graduates may also pursue quality assurance roles or establish food processing ventures. The Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST) serves as the recognised professional body, providing membership, certification, and continuous professional development for practitioners nationwide.
