Epidemiology and Disease Control is a public health programme that equips students with the knowledge and skills to investigate, analyse, and manage the spread of diseases within populations. Students study core areas such as biostatistics, environmental health, disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, vector control, and health policy. The programme blends classroom theory with fieldwork, preparing graduates to respond effectively to both infectious and non-communicable diseases across diverse Nigerian communities. Upon graduation, career opportunities exist within the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, the Federal and State Ministries of Health, international organisations such as WHO and UNICEF, and academic research institutions. Graduates may also pursue professional registration with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria, strengthening their credibility and employability within Nigeria's growing public health sector.
