Education and Social Studies is a dynamic undergraduate programme that equips students with both pedagogical skills and a broad understanding of human society, culture, civic values, and social institutions. Students explore subjects such as sociology, geography, economics, history, and citizenship education, alongside professional teaching methodologies and curriculum development. Graduates are well-positioned to pursue careers as classroom teachers in secondary schools, curriculum developers with state and federal ministries of education, community development officers, or social welfare administrators. Those entering the teaching profession are expected to register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), which regulates and professionalises teaching practice nationwide. The programme ultimately produces graduates capable of shaping informed, responsible citizens across Nigerian communities.
