Education and Religious Studies is a multidisciplinary programme that equips students with foundational knowledge in pedagogical theories, curriculum development, and the philosophical, historical, and sociological dimensions of religion. Students examine Christianity, Islam, and African Traditional Religion within educational contexts, exploring how religious values shape moral formation, social cohesion, and schooling in Nigeria. The programme also covers research methods, ethics, and classroom management strategies. Graduates are well-prepared to pursue careers as secondary school teachers, curriculum developers, religious education coordinators, and counsellors in both public and private institutions. Teaching graduates are expected to register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), which regulates professional teaching practice nationwide and ensures graduates meet nationally recognised standards of educational competence.
