Education and Music is an undergraduate programme that trains students in both pedagogical theory and musical practice, equipping them with the skills needed to teach music effectively at various educational levels. Students explore music history, theory, harmony, composition, instrumental performance, and curriculum development, alongside core courses in educational psychology and teaching methodology. Graduates are well-positioned to pursue careers as music teachers in secondary schools and tertiary institutions, music directors in churches and cultural organisations, curriculum developers with state and federal ministries of education, and professional performers or studio musicians. The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria serves as the principal regulatory body for graduates intending to practice formally as educators within the Nigerian school system.
