Students explore plant physiology, soil science, agrometeorology, crop breeding, pest and disease management, and post-harvest technology, gaining hands-on skills applicable across Nigeria's diverse agricultural zones. The programme blends classroom theory with field practicals, preparing graduates to address food security challenges in a country where agriculture remains central to economic development. Career opportunities include working as agronomists, farm managers, agricultural extension officers, and agribusiness entrepreneurs. Graduates may also pursue careers with government agencies such as the Agricultural Development Programme. The Agricultural Society of Nigeria and the Agronomy Society of Nigeria provide relevant professional platforms for networking and development.
