Biochemistry is a fascinating science programme that bridges biology and chemistry, equipping students with deep knowledge of the molecular processes that sustain life. Students explore subjects such as metabolism, enzymology, molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, and biostatistics, gaining both theoretical understanding and practical laboratory skills. Graduates are well-positioned to pursue careers in healthcare and medical laboratory science, pharmaceutical research and production, food science and quality control, and academic or government research institutions. Those venturing into medical laboratory practice may register with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), while researchers may engage with bodies like the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST). The programme offers excellent prospects in Nigeria's growing biotechnology and health sectors.
