Arabic and Islamic Studies is a multidisciplinary programme that equips students with proficiency in the Arabic language alongside deep knowledge of Islamic theology, jurisprudence, history, and civilisation. Students explore Quranic sciences, Hadith studies, Islamic law, and classical Arabic literature, developing strong analytical and linguistic competencies applicable across diverse sectors. Graduates are well-positioned to pursue careers as Arabic language teachers, Islamic scholars, translators and interpreters, or diplomats serving in Arabic-speaking countries and international organisations. Many graduates also find rewarding roles within Nigeria's Sharia court system, particularly across northern states. While no single regulatory body governs the profession, graduates may affiliate with the Arabic and Islamic Education associations operating under state and federal education frameworks, strengthening their professional standing considerably.
