To study Arabic/English, you must have credit passes in five subjects: Arabic, English Language, Mathematics, and Literature in English are all compulsory. You can choose any one other subject of your choice to complete the five credits needed.
Arabic and English is a combined honours programme that equips students with proficiency in both classical and modern Arabic alongside advanced competency in the English language. Students explore Arabic linguistics, literature, translation, Islamic studies, and Quranic interpretation, while simultaneously developing strong skills in English composition, communication, and literary analysis. The dual-language training opens diverse career pathways across Nigeria, including roles in diplomacy and foreign service, translation and interpretation for government agencies, journalism and media, as well as teaching at secondary and tertiary institutions. Graduates may also pursue careers in Islamic scholarship and legal practice relating to Sharia courts.
