Agricultural Engineering is a dynamic discipline that equips students with the technical knowledge to solve practical challenges facing food production and rural development in Nigeria. Students study core areas such as soil and water engineering, farm power and machinery, irrigation and drainage systems, post-harvest technology, and agricultural structures. The programme blends engineering principles with agricultural science, producing graduates capable of designing systems that improve farming efficiency across diverse Nigerian terrains. Upon graduation, students can pursue careers as farm machinery engineers, irrigation consultants, food processing engineers, or agribusiness managers within government agencies, private agro-industries, and development organisations. Graduates are encouraged to register with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), which provides professional recognition and enhances career prospects considerably.
