Adult Education is a university programme designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to facilitate learning among adult populations. Students explore foundational theories of adult learning, curriculum development, literacy education, vocational guidance, and community development strategies. The programme also covers educational psychology, research methods, and non-formal education administration, preparing graduates to address the diverse learning needs of adults across various settings. Upon graduation, students can pursue careers as adult literacy instructors, community development officers, human resource trainers, and non-formal education coordinators within government ministries, NGOs, and corporate organisations. The National Commission for Adult and Non-Formal Education (NMEC) serves as a key regulatory and professional reference body for practitioners operating within this field across Nigeria.
