Petroleum and Gas Engineering is a four to five year undergraduate programme that equips students with the technical knowledge and practical skills required to explore, extract, process, and manage hydrocarbon resources. Students study core subjects including reservoir engineering, drilling technology, production engineering, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and petroleum economics. Emphasis is placed on both upstream and downstream operations, preparing graduates to function effectively across the entire oil and gas value chain. Upon graduation, career opportunities exist as reservoir engineers, drilling engineers, production engineers, and petroleum consultants within multinational oil companies, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, and indigenous operators. Graduates are expected to register with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), the recognized professional body governing engineering practice in Nigeria.
