Music/Yoruba is a unique interdisciplinary programme that equips students with both musical theory and practice alongside deep competency in Yoruba language, literature, and cultural studies. Students explore harmony, composition, ethnomusicology, oral poetry, Yoruba phonology, dramatic literature, and indigenous performance traditions. The programme nurtures creativity while grounding students in the rich heritage of Yoruba civilisation. Graduates are well-positioned to pursue careers as music educators in secondary and tertiary institutions, Yoruba language broadcasters and media presenters, cultural arts administrators, and performing artists within the entertainment industry. Those pursuing teaching may register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), which professionally certifies educators across all disciplines. The programme remains highly relevant given Nigeria's growing cultural economy and increasing global appetite for African artistic expression.
