Universities Offering Islamic Studies/Hausa in Nigeria (2027)

Islamic Studies/Hausa is a combined humanities programme that equips students with deep knowledge of Islamic theology, jurisprudence, Arabic language, and the rich literary and linguistic traditions of the Hausa people of northern Nigeria. Students explore Quranic sciences, Hadith studies, Islamic history, Hausa oral literature, phonology, and sociolinguistics, developing strong analytical and communication competencies across two culturally intertwined disciplines. Graduates are well-positioned to pursue careers as educators in primary and secondary schools, translators and interpreters for government agencies, broadcast journalists with Hausa-language media houses, and Islamic clerics or counsellors serving Muslim communities. Those entering the teaching profession may register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, while media practitioners can affiliate with the Nigerian Union of Journalists for professional recognition and advancement.
