English/History is a combined humanities programme that equips students with deep competencies in literary analysis, linguistic studies, historical research, and critical thinking. Students examine Nigerian and African literature alongside world literature, while exploring historical events from precolonial African civilisations through contemporary Nigerian political history. The programme develops strong written communication, research methodology, and analytical reasoning skills highly valued across multiple sectors.
Graduates pursue rewarding careers in education, journalism, public service, and archival research. Many become secondary school teachers registered with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, while others thrive as journalists affiliated with the Nigerian Union of Journalists. Civil service roles in cultural heritage management and diplomatic services equally attract graduates, alongside publishing and media communications careers throughout Nigeria's growing creative economy.
