Economics/Social Studies equips students with a deep understanding of how societies allocate resources, make decisions, and respond to policy changes within local and global contexts. Students examine microeconomic and macroeconomic principles, social structures, development economics, statistics, and Nigerian fiscal policy, building both analytical and quantitative skills applicable across sectors. Graduates are well-positioned to pursue careers as economic analysts, policy advisors, development consultants, or researchers within government ministries, international organisations, and the private sector. Those who proceed into financial practice often work toward professional certification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) or the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN). It remains one of the most versatile and intellectually stimulating programmes available to undergraduates today.
