Economics/French is a dynamic interdisciplinary programme that equips students with strong analytical and quantitative skills in economics alongside proficiency in the French language and Francophone cultures. Students explore microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, French linguistics, translation, and international trade, preparing them for an increasingly interconnected West African region where French fluency holds enormous commercial value. Graduates are well-positioned to pursue careers in diplomacy and foreign service, international trade and finance, development economics with multilateral organisations such as ECOWAS and the African Development Bank, and corporate roles within French-speaking multinational companies operating across Nigeria and neighbouring Francophone countries. Professional advancement may be further strengthened through membership of the Chartered Institute of Economists of Nigeria, enhancing both credibility and career prospects considerably.
