Crop Science is a four-year undergraduate programme that equips students with in-depth knowledge of plant physiology, soil science, agronomy, crop breeding, pest and disease management, and agricultural biotechnology. Students also gain practical skills in crop production systems relevant to Nigeria's diverse agroecological zones. Beyond the classroom, fieldwork and research attachments prepare graduates to tackle real challenges facing Nigerian agriculture. Career opportunities are broad and rewarding, spanning roles as agronomists, agricultural extension officers, research scientists at institutes like IITA or NASC, and agribusiness entrepreneurs. Graduates may also pursue postgraduate research or join government agricultural agencies. The Agronomy Society of Nigeria and the Crop Science Society of Nigeria provide professional platforms for networking, continuous development, and industry engagement throughout one's career.
