Chemistry Education is a degree programme that equips students with deep knowledge of chemical sciences alongside the pedagogical skills required to teach at secondary and tertiary levels. Students study core chemistry courses such as organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry, combined with curriculum development, educational psychology, and classroom methodology. Laboratory techniques and research methods also form an essential part of training. Graduates are well-positioned to pursue careers as secondary school chemistry teachers, curriculum developers with state and federal ministries of education, education officers, or lecturers in colleges of education. The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) remains the primary professional regulatory body for graduates entering the teaching profession, and registration is strongly advised for career advancement and recognition.
